The leading scorer of the senior National Team of Ghana, Asamoah Gyan has changed his decision on retirement from international football, Successafrica.info can confirm.
Asamoah Gyan on 20th May, 2019 sent a letter of retirement to the football federation after it was alleged that he was not going to be made the captain of the team in the upcoming AFCON tournament in Egypt next month.
Gyan’s decision to come back for the black stars is as a result of the immediate intervention of the president of the republic of Ghana, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo.
Earlier yesterday, the coach of the senior team, Kwasi Appiah was summoned by the president for briefings on the decision where it was later reported that the president backed the decision.
The skipper in a press release dated 22nd May, 2019 has changed his decision to make himself available for a call up ahead of the tournament next month.
He said in the release that a presidential request is one that cannot be disregarded and that he has taken the request of the president into consideration and will make himself available for the tournament.
