The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) under the Special Education Committee paid a working visit to the School of the deaf – Jamasi Ashanti to commemorate International Deaf Month.
The Secretary for Education, Mr. Kyeremeh Oppong Daniel during the visit stressed that disabilities must not be barriers to capabilities hence its incumbent on us and the society to assist persons living with disabilities and put smiles on their faces.
The Headmistress for the institution together with her staff were very happy for the Union’s presence and expressed their gratitude.

Also she pleaded to the government through the Union to help establish a Senior High School for the Deaf here in the Ashanti Region to help alleviate the stress these persons go through to travel to the Eastern Region to access the only deaf senior high school in the country.

Items like Books, Pens, Pencils, Drinks, Biscuits, Toiletries among others were donated to the students during the visit.
