University of Ghana SRC Presidential Aspirant Isaac Agyeman and his Running mate Louis Banahene have been disqualified by the SRC Vetting Panel following an unsatisfactory performance of the duo at the Monday April 1 vetting.
The vetting was conducted for aspirants who had been cleared to contest after having met all the stated requirements in the SRC Constitution as well as the Constitutional Instrument (C.I) for the elections.
The Chairperson of the University of Ghana SRC Electoral Commission, Roland Eyram Tetteh, announced in a communique on Tuesday April 2 that the Isaac Agyemang-led team could not contest in the race for failing to meet the 70% pass marked set to qualify all aspirants.
Isaac Agyemang, together with his running mate scored a percentage mark of 49.63.
Their only threat in the race, Anthony Julius and Kwaku Asante Bismark, however, scored 82% in the vetting.
Other disqualifications
Former SRC Treasurer aspirant in the Mensah Sarbah Hall JCR election, Philomina Sarbah Andam, also failed to meet the 70% cut off point.
She had a score of 57%.
Also, Emmanuel Boadi and Isaac Ananpansah were also disqualified from the presidential race after the former failed to meet the 3.00 CGPA requirement set.
Matters arising
Sympathizers of the Isaac Agyemang-led team have started teaming up.
They have vowed to ensure that this year’s SRC presidential election is not run unopposed.
