Candidates preparing for secondary school who sat for the examination and private candidates who joined schools to write the exams can all use this process of BECE Certificate request.

The BECE Certificate is an official document attesting that a candidate has duly sat for the Basic Education Certificate Examination. The certificate is issued by the examination body, WAEC Ghana.

The certificates are usually released to participating schools a month or two after the West African Examination Council has successfully released the results.

Candidates and guardians may check their results by purchasing a WAEC Scratch Card and visiting WAEC’s official website. We have put a detailed guide on how to check your BECE results here in this detailed article.

WAEC is clear on the fact that its certificates are issued once. This means that its outfit will not issue an original certificate to a school or candidate who damages or lose the certificate.

Even though WAEC does not issue duplicate certificates, candidates who have lost their certificates can still apply for attestation that certifies that they indeed sat for the examination.

The West African Examinations Council does not issue duplicate certificates.

The Council, however, now issues Attestation of Results for certificates that have been misplaced or damaged. The attestation of the result is as valid as the certificate. Users who wish could confirm the details on the document with the Council.

Attestation of Results is issued to individual candidates or persons for their possession. The Attestation must be collected personally by applicants from the offices of the Council in Accra or the regions.
