An 18-year-old mother has allegedly buried her baby alive after delivery at night at Owudokum, a farming community near Suhum in the Eastern Region.
Starr News has gathered that on Sunday July 14, 2019 about 12:00am the suspect, Jenifer Badu, delivered a baby in a nearby bush and swiftly buried the child alive.
An informant gave Police a tip off upon which detectives were dispatched to the scene in the bush at Owodokum community.
Police found the lifeless body of the day-old baby boy lying in a small hole in a supine position with his placenta lying close to the body.
The body was photographed and conveyed to Suhum Government Hospital morgue awaiting autopsy.
The Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command DSP Ebenezer Tetteh confirmed the incident to Starr News when contacted.
He added that the suspect is currently on admission responding to treatment at the Suhum Hospital under Police surveillance to assist in investigation after she is discharged.
