UEWDecides: 2019 UEW-SRC Election Heads For Run-Off

The 2019 University of Education, Winneba main campus SRC elections is headed towards a run-off between a 2nd year HPERS student Emmanuel Oduro Fosu and Zakari Ali Sulley from the Political Science department.

Emmanuel Oduro Fosu takes a commanding lead with a huge difference of 1593 votes between him and second placed Zakari Ali Sulley.

Emmanuel Oduro Fosu popularly known as “Sir Castro” obtained a total of 4091 votes representing 47.33% of total vote cast as against his second placed contender, who pulled 2498 votes representing 28.90%.

2019 UEW-SRC election heads for run-off because all the candidates failed to hit (50%+1 vote) which is stipulated in the constitution.

The elections, however produced a lot of surprises with Morris Samuel Batsa who was one of the favorite candidates failed to stand before his contenders in other words performed poorly in the election even though he performed very well during vetting.

The new date for the run-off between the top two candidates is yet to be communicated from the electoral commission.
