UCC sweeps nine gold medals at WAUG in Nigeria


The University of Cape Coast (UCC) has clinched the 3rd position with nine gold medals at the 14th edition of the West Africa Universities Games (WAUG) which took place in Port Harcourt, Nigeria.

This record makes UCC the best university among all Ghanaian universities that made a show at this year’s competition.

The University of Ghana (UG) won 5 gold medals placing 6th position in the competition whiles the University for Development Studies (UDS) also picked 5 gold medals and placed 7th position.

The University of Port Harcourt emerged overall best university in this year’s competition; sweeping 67 gold medals. Taking the second spot was the University of Lagos with 16 gold medals.
