In their bid to fight against the Covid 19, Ghanaian Non-governmental organization Maltiti Foundation embarked on a sensitization exercise and donated boxes of hand sanitizers to a section of residents in Nima, a suburb of Accra, Ghana.
The initiative according to the Co-founder and CEO Hajia Fawzia Karim of the foundation is geared toward equipping the less privileged in society to fight against the disease which is causing a lot of havoc worldwide.
She also urged the general public to safeguard themselves against the pandemic.
Speaking to us, Co-founder and Executive Director of the organization, Mr. Ewura Adams Karim, admonished the Ghanaians in general to adhere to the precautionary measures outlined by the Ghana Health Service and the World Health Organization in order to prevent the continues spread of the disease.
Ghana recorded its first case of Covid 19 about two weeks ago and the numbers have since increased by the day. Various measures have been put in place by the government to contain the situation, including the closing of school, places of worship, a partial lock down among several others.
Maltiti Foundation is one of Ghana’s active NGO’s known for its numerous social interventions and swift response to social challenges particularly relating to girl child development, women empowerment, rural and community development, education, healthcare and dignifying economic opportunities. They have been in existence since 2017.
