The University of Cape Coast says that it has begun accepting applications for admission into its undergraduate programmes for the 2020/2021 academic year which begins in September.

It says that Senior High School students who will be sitting for the 2020 May/June West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination are eligible to apply as awaiting students.

UCC, named the third-best tertiary institution in Ghana by Webometrics Ranking of World Universities in its January 2020 edition, is one of the universities that receive thousands of applications and admit more students.

For the 2019/2020 academic year, it admitted a total of 7,401 students to pursue various programmes, according to figures from its Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Ghartey Ampiah, at the 2019 Matriculation Ceremony.

The number of persons who apply to the school is estimated to increase as the first batch of the government’s free Senior High School programme, which has seen a hike in the number of students in second-cycle institutions, will be partaking in the 2020 WASSCE exam.

Prof. Ampiah, however, says that University would need the help of the government to complete three out of eleven unfinished projects which are currently being funded by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund).

These projects are the School of Medical Sciences Lecture Theatres at the Amonoo-Kuofi Medical Village, School of Business Complex and the Science Annex Complex.
