Following a supposed maintenance work of the Freddie Block of the Evandy, now Ultimate hostel, management on 15th May 2020 issued notices to residents of the block to come and pick their belongings to allow construction work to begin. This however sparked a huge misunderstanding amongst the students resident at Ultimate hostel as the text messages sent them failed to clarify who was affected and what not.

In the spirit of advocacy, a team led by an SRC presidential candidate, Samuel Sesah paid a courtesy call on the management on the hostel to seek clarification on the matter as the outcry from the residents was incessant.

Following the visit by team Sesah, management  explained that Ultimate hostel (EVANDY HOSTEL) had earlier written to the Dean of students to permit them to ask for students in their hostel to return for their belonging.

They have, in a letter yesterday, clarified that only members on Freddie’s block are to come for their belongings. The Freddie’s block will be undergoing a demolishing exercise.

Students who are still in the block will be relocated to new places and the items and belongings of the students in Freddie’s upon request will equally be relocated.

All other students at Evandy can decide whether or not to come for their belongings. It is however not compulsory.
