There have been reports of unrest and chaos in the Kumasi Wesley Girls’ Senior High School between students and the authorities of the school due to what students claim to be unfair punishments.
Kumasi Wesley Girls’ Senior High School is an all girls school located in Tafo of the Ashanti Region. According to students who spoke to successafrica.info, the headmistresses in the school have been meting out inhumane punishments to them.
They claim they’ve been made to work for a whole week because the headmistresses alleges that they have been have romantic affairs with the male teachers. According to these students, the headmistresses got access to some pictures of students standing in public with the teachers and they use this to support their claim.
The students lashed out and there are reports that a school bus was vandalised and some houses as well.
In their own words, they claim they are not labourers or slaves to be used for such intensive manual work.
Some of the students threaten that if something is not done soon, a full blown demonstration will ensue.
