The Students’ Representative Council of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology has reiterated its commitment to serving students interest.
The SRC during its first ever organized Meet the Press session revealed its involvement in the negotiation process ahead of the release of fees schedule for the 2019/2020 academic year.
Addressing the media, Master Richard Amoh, the Public Relations Officer said the SRC Negotiated for a fees fall from 15% to 5% and Gh¢77 as shuttle fees for the 2019/2020 academic year.
There were several agitations when authorities of the school released the provisional fees schedule for this academic year.
The increment as described by many students was as a result of the cost incurred during the recent impasse that led to the subsequent closure of the university for close to two months.
Meanwhile, our checks indicate that some students are still finding difficulty with conflicting figures of fees as it appears figures on the school’s website differ from figures reflecting in students portal.
For Final Year Parallel Students of the KNUST School of Business, it was noted that a total amount of Gh¢ 3,276.70 was allocated as fee schedule on the school’s website as against a total amount of Gh¢ 5,166.70 reflecting in students portal as fees.
This has led a lot of students stranded on the exact amount to pay as fees for the 2019/2020 academic year.
Authorities are yet to respond to this challenge.
