No bra day is worldwide day celebrated to create awareness on breast cancer. The event was initially observed on July 9, 2011 but within three years, it had moved to October 13.

The observance has spread worldwide. The event was spun off a medical event in Canada, Toronto that encourages survivors of breast cancer to consider reconstruction surgery.

The event name BRA ( Breast Reconstruction Awareness) day was adapted by an unknown individual who conceived of No Bra day as a way to encourage women to enjoy being braless and to have knowledge about symptoms of cancer.

Girls are encouraged to take braless pictures and post on social media with the hashtag #nobraday. Some women embrace and celebrate No bra day while others see as a restrictive and an uncomfortable garment to wear.

Dr. Mitchell Brown started the event and titled it BRA Day after realising Canadian women who underwent a mastectomy reconstructive surgery resisted it.

It was a move by Brown to create the awareness of the availability of reconstructive breast surgery. BRA day is intended to create breast cancer awareness and encourage women to conduct self examinations.

It is worthy of note help the world fight against breast cancer.
