Tamale Technical University is Africa’s premier University in northern Ghana in the delivery of world-class technical and vocational education. The university traces its history to a trades school in 1951 and a Technical Institute in 1963.
It received Technical University classification in 2018 following its conversion from a Polytechnic under the Technical Universities Act, 2016 (Act 922).
The University has the autonomy to run as a Public tertiary educational institution in Ghana. All the programs run by the University are accredited by the National Accreditation Board (NAB). The Cut Off Point for Technical Universities in Ghana is any grade not more than an aggregate 30. SSSCE/WASSCE applicants with C6 passes in English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science are eligible to apply.
Credit passes in three elective subjects (A1-C6) would also be considered in calculating the cut-off points.
So, in effect, three core subjects and three elective subjects would be used to calculate Cut off points for various Technical Universities, which is not more than an aggregate 30.
