Sunyani Technical University Admission Forms, STU admission forms for Degree/HND is Out, see application, guidelines, and requirements below for the 2022/2023 academic year.

Applications are invited from prospective applicants for admission into full-time Degree/HND programmes in various Faculties of the Sunyani Technical University (STU) previously Sunyani Polytechnic, for the 2022/2023 Academic year.

Before accessing the admission forms, applicants are encouraged to check the cut off point for all HND, Diploma, and Degree courses available at this university.

Admission Requirements

Below are the Sunyani Technical University admission requirements;

Tertiary Programmes

BACHELOR OF TECHNOLOGY (B-TECH) DEGREE IN BUILDING TECHNOLOGY

PROGRAMME DURATION 
The programme duration is eighteen (18) months consisting of three semesters, with one semester being a six-month internship with industry.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Applicants must hold a good HND (Second Class Upper Division or Better) in Building Technology or allied programmes with at least one year relevant post qualification experience. Applicants with HND Second Class Lower Division must pass a selection interview before they could be considered.
  • Candidates with Construction Technicians Course Part III or Part II old Scheme with five good passes including Construction Practice, Applied Technology and Site Experience and Construction Project Work plus good passes in either Land Surveying or Measurement of Construction Works with their project work shall be admitted. Candidates with some passes in G.C.E ‘O’ Level or SSSCE/WASSCE or similar qualification would be an added advantage.

NOTE: In addition to the above entry requirement for CTC Holders, applicants will go through a bridging course or Pre-B-Tech programme for a minimum of three months organized by the University and should pass the stipulated courses before they are enrolled fully on the B-Tech programme.

  • BACHELOR OF TECHNOLOGY (B-TECH) DEGREE IN ACCOUNTING WITH COMPUTING

PROGRAMME DURATION 
The programme duration is 18 months consisting of 3 semesters.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
A. HND Accountancy Applicants
Holders of Full HND Accountancy Certificate

  1. ACCA and ICA Applicants
    Applicants with 7 passes or more papers of ICAG, ACCA, CIMA or equivalents
  2. Advanced Diploma in Computerised Accounting
    Holders of Professional Diploma in Computerised Accounting with credit passes (SSSCE A- D), WASSCE (A1 – C6) in the three core papers of English Language, Core Mathematics and Social Studies/Integrated Science or Equivalent from a recognized Tertiary Institution
  3. First Degree
    Applicants holding NAB Accredited degrees will be interviewed.
  • HND ACCOUNTANCY

PROGRAMME DURATION : 3 YEARS (6 SEMESTERS)

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  1. SSSCE/RSA II (NEW SCHEME) APPLICANTS:- Credit passes (A – D) in three (3) Core subjects (English, Mathematics/Business Mathematics, Integrated Science/Core Science or Social Studies and credit passes (A – D) in two (2) Elective subjects ( i.e. Introduction to Business Management (IBM), Accounting, Costing and Business Mathematics or Economics, Elective Mathematics, Geography). Candidates with the requisite Science subjects can also apply.B. WASSCE APPLICANTS:- Credit passes (A1–C6) in three (3) Core subjects (English, Mathematics/Business Mathematics, Integrated Science/Core Science or Social Studies and credit passes (A1 – C6) in two (2) Elective subjects ( i.e. Introduction to Business Management (IBM),Accounting, Costing and Business Mathematics or Economics, Elective Mathematics, Geography. ) Candidates with the requisite Science subjects can also apply.
  1. GCE ‘A’ LEVEL/RSA LLL APPLICANTS:- Candidates must have passes in three (3) business related GCE ‘A’ Level subjects or RSA Stage lll Passes in Business related subject. In addition to the above requirements, candidates must have GCE ‘O’ Level or RSA II Credit passes in 5 subjects including English and Business Mathematics.GCE ‘A’ Level Candidates must have a pass in General Paper.
  2. DIPLOMA IN BUSINESS STUDIES APPLICANTS (DBS):-Applicants who hold DBS with Distinction or Credit from GES accredited institutions are eligible for admission to level 200 of the HND Accountancy programme. DBS applicants who hold a Pass would enroll at level 100. In all cases applicants would be required to have four (4) credit passes in WASSCE/SSSCE/ RSA II including English and Mathematics.
  3. LCCI / CITY AND GUILDS PITMAN’S QUALIFICATION:- Candidates must have the Advanced Certificate in three (3) relevant subjects plus five (5) passes at the Intermediate Level including Business Mathematics/Calculation and English Language.
  1. MATURE APPLICANTS
  • Must be at least 25 years old
  • Must be engaged in Accounting related work for at least two years.
  • Must pass a written examination and an interview.
  • Must show proof of date of birth with any national document which is at least 5 years old at the time of application.

OR

  • Must be at least 25 years old
  • Must be engaged in Accounting related work for at least two years.
  • Must show proof of credit passes in English Language and Mathematics in SSSCE/WASSCE
  • Must show proof of date of birth with any national document which is at least 5 years old at the time of application
  • HND MARKETING

PROGRAMME DURATION: 3 YEARS (6 SEMESTERS)

 ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • SSSCE/RSA II (NEW SCHEME) APPLICANTS:- Credit Passes (A – D) in three (3) Core subjects (English Language, Mathematics/Business Mathematics, Integrated Science/Core Science or Social Studies PLUS two (2) credit passes (A – D) in Business Electives (Introduction to Business Management, Accounting, Principles of Cost Accounting or Secretarial Electives (Introduction to Business Management, Typewriting, Clerical Office Duties) or Geography, History, Economics and Elective Mathematics).

WASSCE APPLICANTS:- Credit Passes (A1 – C6) in three (3) Core subjects (English Language, Mathematics/Business Mathematics, Integrated Science/Core Science or Social Studies PLUS two (2) credit passes (A1 – C6) in Business Electives (Introduction to Business Management, Accounting, Principles of Cost Accounting or Secretarial Electives (Introduction to Business Management, Typewriting, Clerical Office Duties) or Geography, History, Economics and Elective Mathematics).

  • GCE HOLDERS
  1. Five (5) GCE ‘O’ Level credit passes including English Language and Modern Mathematics.PLUSThree (3) GCE ‘A’ Level passes including Business Management or Economics or Accounting
    plus General Paper.
    OR
    ii. RSA Stage ll/Ghana Commercial Examinations Stage ll with passes in five (5) subjects including English Language, Accounting, Business Mathematics, Economics/Commerce/Marketing / Information Technology.

PLUS
Three (3) RSA Stage III passes one of which must be Credit.

  • DIPLOMA IN BUSINESS STUDIES APPLICANTS (DBS):- Applicants who hold DBS with Distinction or Credit from GES accredited institutions are eligible for admission to level 200 of the HND Marketing programme. DBS applicants who hold a Pass would enroll at level 100. In all cases applicants would be required to have four (4) credit passes in WASSCE/SSSCE/ RSA II including English and Mathematics.
  • LCCI / CITY AND GUILDS PITMAN’S APPLICANTS:-  Candidates must have the Advanced Certificate in three (3) relevant subjects plus five (5) passes at the Intermediate Level including Business Mathematics/Calculation and English Language.

MATURE APPLICANTS

  • Must be at least 25 years old
  • Must work for at least two years.
  • Must pass a written examination and an interview.
  • Must show proof of date of birth with any national document which is at least 5 years old at the time of application.

WASSCE APPLICANTS:- Credit Passes (A1 – C6) in three (3) Core subjects (English Language, Mathematics and Core Science or Integrated Science) plus two (2) credit passes (A1 – C6) in the relevant electives (Physics or Applied Electricity, Elective Mathematics/Engineering Mathematics, Chemistry or Technical Drawing/Engineering Science).

  • CERTIFICATE II HOLDERS

Certificate II Applicants with Passes in six (6) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects (English, Mathematics and Integrated Science) plus three (3) passes in relevant elective subjects.

  • PRE-HND (ACCESS COURSE) PROGRAMMES

Holders of all three (3) passes in Access course programme conducted by the NABPTEX in addition to elective subjects that are electrical/electronic related are eligible to enroll on the HND Electrical/Electronic Engineering at level 100.

  • GCE HOLDERS

Five (5) GCE ‘O’ Level credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Physics and
Chemistry.

Two (2) GCE ‘A’ Level passes in Mathematics and Physics or Chemistry.
OR
Electrical Engineering Technician Part ll Certificate with at least two Credits.

  • WASSCE APPLICANTS:– Credit Passes (A1 – C6) in three (3) core subjects(English Language, Mathematics and Core Science / Integrated Science) plus two (2) credit passes (A1 – C6) in the relevant elective subjects (Physics, Chemistry and Elective Mathematics or Technical Electives or Economics & Geography.
  • CERTIFICATE II HOLDERS

Certificate II Applicants with Passes in six (6) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects (English, Mathematics and Integrated Science) plus three (3) passes in Blocklaying and Concreting, Carpentry and Joinery and Plumbing Installation.

  • PRE-HND (ACCESS COURSE) PROGRAMMES

Holders of all three (3) passes in Access course programme conducted by the NABPTEX in addition to elective subjects that are building technology related are eligible to enroll on the HND Building Technology at level 100.

  • GCE HOLDERS

(i) Five (5) G.C.E. ‘O’ Level credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Technical
Drawing and a Science subject.
AND
(ii) Two (2) G.C.E ‘A’ Level passes in Mathematics and Physics or Chemistry.

  1. Ordinary Technician Diploma (OTD) F. Construction Technicians Course Part ll (old scheme) certificate with five (5) passes including Surveying or Measurement plus Construction Technicians Course Part I (old scheme) Certificate.

  • SSSCE/RSA II (NEW SCHEME) APPLICANTS:- Candidates must possess three (3) Credit Passes (A – D) in Core English Language, Core Mathematics/Business Mathematics and Core Science/Intergrated Science, and credit passes (A – D) in Two (2) elective Subjects.

General Arts: Geography, French, Economics, Government/History.

Vocational: Food and Nutrition, Management in Living, Clothing and Textiles, Living Arts, General Knowledge in Arts.

Business: Accounting, Introduction to Business Management (IBM), Principles of Cost Accounting, Business Mathematics and Economics.

Agricultural Science: General Agric, Elective Chemistry, Horticulture.

  • WASSCE APPLICANTS:- Candidatesmust possess three (3) Credit Passes (A1 – C6) in Core English Language, Core Mathematics/Business Mathematics and Core Science/Integrated Science, and credit passes (A1 – C6) in Two (2) elective Subjects.

Holders of all three (3) passes in Access course programme conducted by the NABPTEX in addition to elective subjects that are hotel, catering and institutional management related are eligible to enroll on the HND Hotel, Catering and Institutional Management at level 100.

  • APPLICANTS WITH PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Must possess Certificates in cookery Part l (8121) and Cookery Part ll (8122), Plus five (5) G.C.E .‘O’ Level Credit passes including English Language and Mathematics, or five (5) SSSCE/WASSCE passes including English Language and Mathematics or Science.

  • DIPLOMA IN INSTITUTIONAL MANAGEMENT
  • GCE HOLDERS

Candidates must possess GCE ‘O’ Level with credits in five (5) subjects including English Language, Mathematics and a Science Subject (Chemistry, Physics, Biology or General Science) Plus two (2) GCE ‘A’ Level passes and a pass in General paper

  • SSSCE/RSA II (NEW SCHEME) APPLICANTS:- Three (3) Credit Passes (A – D) in Core English, Mathematics Business/Mathematics and Integrated Science/Core Science or Social Studies plus two (2) credit passes (A – D) in any elective subjects. Candidates with the French Option can also apply.
  • WASSCE APPLICANTS:- Three (3) Credit Passes (A1 – C6) in Core English, Mathematics Business/Mathematics and Integrated Science/Core Science or Social Studies plus two (2) credit passes (A1 – C6) in any elective subjects. Candidates with the French Option can also apply.

Certificate II Applicants with Passes in six (6) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects (English, Mathematics and Integrated Science) plus three (3) passes in relevant elective subjects.

  • PRE-HND (ACCESS COURSE) PROGRAMMES

Holders of all three (3) passes in Access course programme conducted by the NABPTEX in addition to elective subjects that are general agriculture related are eligible to enroll on the HND General Agriculture at level 100.

  • G.C.E APPLICANTS

Five (5) G.C.E. ‘O’ Levels credit passes including English and Mathematics, and a science subject, or its equivalent; and two G.C.C ‘A’ Level Passes in relevant subjects plus a pass in general paper or its equivalent.

  • MATURE APPLICANTS
  • Must be at least 25 years old and a Science/Agricultural graduate
  • Must work for at least two years in Agricultural related field.
  • Must pass a written examination and an interview.
  • Must show proof of date of birth with any national document which is at least 5 years old at the time of application.

  1. HND CIVIL ENGINEERING

PROGRAMME DURATION: 3 YEARS (6 SEMESTERS)

ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS
Candidates seeking admission to the HND Civil Engineering programme must possess one of the following categories of qualifications:

  • SSSCE APPLICANTS: Credit Passes (A – D) in three (3) core subjects (English Language, Mathematics and core science or Integrated Science) plus Elective Mathematics and credit passes (A – D) in any two (2) of the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Building Construction, Technical Drawing, and Engineering Science.
  • WASSCE APPLICANTS: Credit Passes (A1 – C6) in three (3) core subjects (English Language, Mathematics and core science or Integrated Science) plus Elective Mathematics and credit passes (A1 – C6) in any two (2) of the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Building Construction, Technical Drawing, and Engineering Science.
  • CERTIFICATE II HOLDERS

Certificate II Applicants with Passes in six (6) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects (English, Mathematics and Integrated Science) plus three (3) passes in relevant elective subjects.

  • PRE-HND (ACCESS COURSE) PROGRAMMES

Holders of all three (3) passes in Access course programme conducted by the NABPTEX in addition to elective subjects that are civil engineering related are eligible to enroll on the HND Civil Engineering at level 100.

  • GCE ‘A’ LEVEL APPLICANTS: Passes in two (2) GCE ‘A’ Level in any of the following subjects; Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry and a pass in General Paper, plus five (5) GCE ‘O’ level credits in English Language, mathematics, Additional Mathematics, General Science physics or Chemistry.
  • CONSTRUCTION TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATE, CTC II (NEW SCHEME): Candidates must obtain at least two (2) credits and four (4) relevant subjects in CTC II (New Scheme) organized by the Technical Exams Unit (TEU). Candidates with less than two (2) credits may apply if they obtain SSSCE/WASSCE passes in core English, Elective Mathematics and Physics or GCE ‘O’ Level credits in English Language, Additional Mathematics and Physics or OTD Building/Civil Engineering.
  • FINAL CONSTRUCTION TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATE (CTC II/III OLD SCHEME): Candidates must obtain at least two (2) credits in five (5) relevant subjects in CTC II/III (Old Scheme) organized by the Technical Exams Unit (TEU) or four (4) credits in GCC. Candidates with less than two credits in CTC II/III will be considered if they include passes in SSSCE/WASSCE in Core English, Elective Mathematics and Physics.
  • MATURE APPLICANTS
  • Must be at least 25 years old and Science/Technical graduates.
  • Must have at least two (2) years relevant industrial experience.
  • Must pass a written examination and an interview.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Candidates seeking admission to the HND Mechanical Engineering programme must possess one of the following categories of qualifications:

  • SSSCE APPLICANTS

(i) Credit Passes (A – D) in the following three (3) core subjects: English, Mathematics and Science (Integrated/Core Science).
(ii) In addition, credit passes (A – D) in any two (2) of the following elective subjects: Engineering Science, Physics, Chemistry, Elective Mathematics, Metal work, Auto Mechanics and Technical Drawing.

  • WASSCE APPLICANTS

(i) Credit Passes (A1 – C6) in the following three (3) core subjects: English, Mathematics and Science (Integrated/Core Science).
(ii) In addition, credit passes (A1 – C6) in any two (2) of the following elective subjects: Engineering Science, Physics, Chemistry, Elective Mathematics, Metal work, Auto Mechanics and Technical Drawing.

  • CERTIFICATE II HOLDERS

Certificate II Applicants with Passes in six (6) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects (English, Mathematics and Integrated Science) plus three (3) passes in relevant elective subjects.

PROGRAMME DURATION: 3 YEARS (6 SEMESTERS)

ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS

  • SSSCE/RSA II (NEW SCHEME) APPLICANTS:-  Credit passes (A – D) in three (3) core subjects including English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science plus two (2) Credit passes (A – D) in Science elective (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry) with elective Mathematics inclusive. Applicants who do not have credit pass in Core ICT must have credit pass in elective Physics.
  • WASSCE APPLICANTS:- Credit passes (A1 – C6) in three (3) core subjects including English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science plus two (2) Credit passes (A1 – C6) in Science elective (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry) with elective Mathematics inclusive. Applicants who do not have credit pass in Core ICT must have credit pass in elective Physics.
  • APPLICANTS WITHOUT CORE ICT AND/OR PHYSICS: Students without credit passes in core ICT and/or Physics will have to go through a 3-month Access Programme where they will be taken through courses to make up for the subjects required for admission.
  • PRE-HND (ACCESS COURSE) PROGRAMMES

Holders of all three (3) passes in Access course programme conducted by the NABPTEX in addition to elective subjects that are computer science related are eligible to enroll on the HND Computer Science at level 100.

  • APPLICANTS WITH CERTIFICATIONS IN COMPUTING: Students having other certificates in various Computing fields will only be admitted once content of courses make up for the deficiencies in their WASSCE/SSSCE subjects.
  • G.C.E HOLDERS: Five (5) GCE ‘O’ Level Credit passes including English Language and Mathematics or Statistics and any other subject plus two (2) ‘A’ level passes one of which must be a Mathematical subject plus a pass in General paper; or its equivalent.

  • SSSCE APPLICANTS:- Credit passes (A – D) in three (3) Core subjects (English, Mathematics/Business Mathematics, Integrated Science/Core Science or Social Studies and two (2) Elective passes.
  • WASSCE APPLICANTS:- Credit passes (A1 – C6) in three (3) Core subjects (English, Mathematics/Business Mathematics, Integrated Science/Core Science or Social Studies and two (2) Elective passes.
  • RSA II (NEW SCHEME) APPLICANTS:- Credit passes (A – D) in three (3) Core subjects (English, Mathematics/Business Mathematics, Integrated Science/Core Science or Social Studies and two (2) Elective passes.
  • GCE ‘A’ level with at least three (3) passes excluding general paper.
  • DIPLOMA IN BUSINESS STUDIES APPLICANTS (DBS):- Applicants who hold DBS with Distinction or Credit from GES accredited institutions are eligible for admission to level 200 of the HND Purchasing and Supply programme. DBS applicants who hold a Pass would enroll at level 100. In all cases applicants would be required to have four (4) credit passes in WASSCE/SSSCE/ RSA II including English and Mathematics.

Five (5) GCE credit passes in GBCE or GCE ‘O’ level including English and Mathematics.

  • Five GCE ‘O’ level credit passes including English and Mathematics plus at least two (2) GCE ‘A’ level passes and a pass in general paper;

  • GCE ‘O’ level credits in five (5) subjects plus all passes in DBS with at least two (2) credits. Credits in DBS or Ghana Commercial Examination Certificate (RSA II) with five (5) passes plus at least two (2) passes in DBS including English and Mathematics.
