The national president of Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG), Mr. Augustine Appiah has been impeached.
According to the information available to Coverghana.com.gh, Mr. Augustine Appiah was not in agreement with other members of National Executive Council to hold Congress this year which is suppose to come off at St. Ambrose College of Education, Dorma Akwamu in the Bono Region, in order to elect new leaders for the Association for the next 2020/2021 TTAG year.
According to the source, the TTAG president, Augustine Appiah who was supposed to appear at the Congress as the president was not there because he has allegedly planned not to handover his barton to new leaders.
The other twenty (20) members out of the twenty-seven (27) members of NEC of TTAG held a meeting on the way forward. During the meeting, a motion was moved to impeach the president, Mr. Appiah which was subjected to voting.
After voting, all the 20 members of the National Executive Council of TTAG voted for the motion for Mr. Augustine Appiah to be ‘impeached as president of Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana.’
The delegates at the 25th Annual Delegates’ Congress to make final decision. At the end of voting during the mini Congress at Berekum College of Education, a total of 209 accredited delegates voted for the motion and 1 person voted against the motion.
A resolution has been passed by the House to removed the Mr. Augustine Appiah from office for his Vice President Mr. Albert Dunoo to be acting as president.
Mr. Albert Dunoo, the national Vice President has been sworn in as acting president by the National Coordinator of the Association Mr. Hussein Mohammed Appiah till a new president is elected.
During the meeting, members of NEC agreed to adjourn this year’s Congress till further notice. Date, as when the Congress will hold will be communicated as soon as decision is made by NEC.
Four Sectors namely, ATTRICONS, EGA Sector, VOLTA Sector and WEC Sector were present except ASHBA Sector.
Information available also indicates that, the National Administrator of TTAG, the treasurer including the National President were not present at the National Congress.
