SALE OF APPLICATION FORMS FOR 2022/2023 ACADEMIC YEAR FOR ADMISSION INTO BACHELOR OF TECHNOLOGY (B.TECH), HIGHER NATIONAL DIPLOMA (HND), NON-TERTIARY, AND PROFESSIONAL PROGRAMMES.
Koforidua Technical University wishes to inform the prospective students and the general public that Application Forms for Admission to the following programmes for the 2022/2023 Academic Year are now on sale.
Before accessing the admission forms, applicants are encouraged to check the cut off point for all HND, Diploma, and Degree courses available at this university.
If your grade qualifies you for a course at this university, you can use the school’s portal to apply for admission.
Admission Requirements
Below are the Koforidua Technical University admission requirements;
General Entry Requirements For 4-Year B.Tech Programmes
- i) SSSCE ApplicantsÂ
Passes (A-D) in three (3) core subjects namely English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science; and must possess three (3) passes in relevant elective subjects. The cumulative aggregate must be 24 or better.
- ii) WASSCE Applicants
Credit passes (A1-C6) in three core subjects namely English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science; and must possess three (3) credit passes (A1-C6) in three relevant elective subjects. The cumulative aggregate must be 18 or better.
(iii) GCE ‘O’ and ‘A’ Level Applicants
Applicants must possess six (6) GCE ‘O’ Level passes including English Language, Mathematics plus three (3) GCE ‘A’ Level passes in the relevant courses.
- iv) Applicants from Technical Institutions
Applicants from Technical Institutes must possess passes in Mathematics, English Language, and Integrated Science plus passes in relevant elective courses.
Applicants from Technical Institutes with the requisite elective passes without passes in English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science may be admitted to a two (2) month intensive bridging (pre-degree) programme before formal admission to their programmes of choice after passing the selection examination.
- v) HND ApplicantsÂ
- Higher National Diploma with the requisite specialization will enroll at level 300.
- Applicants with a university Diploma in the relevant subjects will enroll at level 300.
- Ordinary Technical Diploma (OTD) will enroll at level 200.
- vi) Applicants with Technician Certificate
Applicants with passes in Motor Vehicle Technicians II (MVT II) may also be considered for admission and will be enrolled at Level 200.
Applicants with passes in Motor Vehicle Technicians III (MVT III) may also be considered for admission and will be enrolled at Level 300.
vii) Mature Applicants
- Applicants must be twenty-five (25) years old at the time of application and must show proof of age with birth certificate or any legitimate documentary proof of date of birth which should be five (5) years old at the time of application.
- Must pass a written test in English Language, Mathematics and General Knowledge to be conducted by Koforidua Technical University.
- Applicants within the field of Engineering must have obtained a pass at MET I, MVT I, EET I, CTC I
- GCE ‘O’ Level, SSSCE/WASSSCE Applicants must have obtained passes in English Language, Mathematics, and any two subjects in a related field of specialization.
- Must have at least one-year of working experience in a related field (A letter from employer is required as evidence of working experience).
General Requirements For Bachelor Of Technology (Top-Up) Programmes
- Holders of Higher National Diploma in a specified field obtained from accredited/recognized institutions
- Holders of Higher National Diploma in a particular field transferring from similar programmes run at accredited/recognized institutions should have a one (1) year working experience.
- Holders of University Diploma certificates from accredited Universities and Professional Diploma certificates are eligible to apply
- Other qualifications that are equivalent to Higher National Diploma, Construction Technicians Certificate III & II), (CTC III (New)), CTC II (Old), Mechanical Engineering Technician III (MET III), Electrical Engineering Technician III (EET III), Motor Vehicle Technician III (EET III), Advance Diploma among others).
General Requirements For Bachelor Of Technology (Top-Up) Programmes

General Entry Requirements For HND Programmes
SSSCE/WASSCE Applicants
- SSSCE Candidates:Â Passes (A-D) in three (3) core subjects namely English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science/Social Studies; and must possess a minimum of D in any three (3) of the passes relevant to the area of specialization.
- WASSCE Candidates: Passes (A-D7) in three (3) core subjects namely English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science/Social Studies; and must possess a minimum of C6 in any three (3) of the passes relevant to the area of specialization.
- Alternatively, SSSCE/WASSCE Applicants with passes (A-D)/(A1-C6) in three core subjects namely English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science/Social Studies; and a minimum of D/C6 in any two (2) of the passes relevant to the area of specialization are eligible to apply.
GBCE/ ‘O’/A’ LEVEL/ABCE APPLICANTS
Five (5) GBCE /GCE‘O’-Level credit passes (including English Language and Mathematics) plus at least two (2) GCE ‘A’ level/ABCE passes excluding General Paper.
APPLICANTS FROM TECHNICAL SCHOOLS (CERTIFICATE II APPLICANTS)
Applicants must have passes in three (3) subjects including English Language and Mathematics and Integrated Science plus three (3) relevant elective subjects/trade courses.
DBS APPLICANTS
Four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE passes including English and Mathematics plus at least three (3) passes in relevant DBS subjects.
TEACHER’S CERTIFICATE.
Applicant must have Three-Year Post-Secondary Certificate or Four Year Certificate ‘A’ with a minimum of two (2) years teaching experience, plus three (3) GCE O-Level or SSSCE/WASSCE passes in relevant elective subjects.
MATURE APPLICANTS
- Applicants must be twenty-five (25) years old at the time of application and must show proof of age with birth certificate or any legitimate documentary proof of date of birth which should be five (5) years old at the time of application.
- Must pass a written test in English Language, Mathematics and General Knowledge to be conducted by Koforidua Technical University.
General Entry Requirements For Two (2) Year Tertiary Diploma Programmes
- a) SSSCE/WASSCE APPLICANTS
Passes in three (3) WASSCE) or D (SSSCE) in core subjects including English and Core Mathematics PLUS two credit passes in relevant elective subjects.
- b) O‟LEVEL/GBCE AND A‟LEVEL/ABCE APPLICANTS
Five passes in O‟ Level/GBCE including English Language and Mathematics
- c) Technician/Certificate II Applicants
Technician Applicants must have relevant Technician Certificate (Part I or Part II) from recognized higher institutions.
- d) Certificate II Applicants Applicants
Must have passes in six (6) relevant subjects comprising three (3)core subjects including (English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science/Social Studies/Entrepreneurship), plus three (3) passes in relevant subject areas.
- e) Mature Applicants
- Must be at least 25 years at the time of application.
- Must have 5 credits at the GCE „O‟ Level, including English Language, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science and three Elective subjects at the SSSCE/WASSCE level.
- Must provide documentary evidence of relevant work experience
- Must pass a Departmental examination and interview
Must pass a scheduled Mature Applicants Entrance Examination and interview. 3. Must provide documentary evidence of at least two (2) years relevant working experience.
Entry Requirements For Non-Tertiary Programmes
DBS – (Accounting/ Management/Marketing/Purchasing & Supply/ Entrepreneurship/ Secretarial Options)
- Four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE passes (including English and Mathematics)Â Or
- Four (4) GCE O-Level passes (including English Language and Mathematics)Â Or
- Four (4) GBCE (RSA II) passes (including English Language & Business Mathematics)Â Or
- NACVET/NVTI Typist/ 2 or 3 passes in Stenographer Certificate (for Secretarial option)
DBS–(Statistics and Information Technology Options)
- Four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE passes (including English, Mathematics plus elective Mathematics or Physics) Or
- Four (4) GCE O-Level passes (including English Language and Mathematics, additional Mathematics or Physics)
Certificate II in Fashion Design and Textiles:-2-Years
- Passes in SSSCE/WASSCE/GBCE/’O’ Level subjects.
- National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI) Fashion Certificate Grade I or Grade II or equivalent.
- Junior High School Graduates with knowledge and skills in Dressmaking
Advanced Fashion Design and Textiles:-2-Year
- Holders of City and Guilds Certificate in Fashion & Designing (Dressmaking and Tailoring)Â Or
- Intermediate Dressmaking/Fashion Certificate plus at least one (1) year relevant practical experience Or
- Four (4) passes in SSSCE/WASSCE subjects including English Language, Mathematics and any other elective subjects plus basic knowledge and skills in Dressmaking Or
- Four (4) passes in GCE ‘O’ Level including English Language Mathematics plus knowledge in Dressmaking.
Construction Technician Certificate (CTC) Part I
- Four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE passes including English, Mathematics and Technical Drawing.
- Technical Construction option Subjects: Craft (B/C, C/J, P/D, and Plumbing) and Advanced (B/C, C/J, P/D, and Plumbing.)
- Passes in General Course in Construction (GCC)
Mechanical Engineering Technician (MET) Part I
- Four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE passes including English, Mathematics and Science
- Technical Option Subjects: Engineering Crafts, Intermediate General Engineering (GE), MECP
- Technical Option Subjects: MVM, Intermediate General Engineering (GE)
Electrical Engineering Technician (EET) Part I
- Four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE passes including English, Mathematics and Science and any two of the following – Applied Electricity/Electronics, Physics, Mathematics.
Catering Certificate II (formerly Cookery 812/1)- 2years
- Passes in relevant SSSCE/WASSCE/GBCE/ GCE O-Level subjects.
- NVTI Grade II or JHS Certificate with working experience.
Entry Requirements For Professional Programmes
The University has re-introduced the following professional programmes to be run on WEEKENDS on the main campus of the University.

- Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) (UK):- Levels I – VI
To qualify to write any of the professional examinations above, the candidate SHOULD first register as a student of an appropriate professional body.
Access Course/Pre-HND Programme
The National Board for Professional and Technicians Examinations (NABPTEX) has designed an access course for Technical/Vocational Institute graduates into HND Programmes.

Duration – One (1) academic year (i.e., Two (2) semesters of 16 weeks per semester)
Note: Candidates would be required to obtain at least 50% in each of the three (3) subjects namely: English Language, Mathematics and Science.
Entry Requirements
- Applicants must have a minimum of Craft Course. Or
- Applicants must have MET I, MVT I and EET I or its equivalent. Or
- Applicants should have a minimum qualification of Intermediate or Craft Certificate or its equivalent from a recognized examinations body. With regards to Hospitality Management, applicants must have Cookery 812/2.

Entry Requirement
- Applicants with a minimum of Junior High School Certificate
- Mature Applicants must be at least twenty-five (25) years old and must have relevant working experience.

- Ghanaian Applicants for HND and Non-HND programmes are to make a payment of One Hundred and Fifty Ghana Cedis (GH¢150.00) and B’Tech applicants are to make a payment of One Hundred and Sixty Ghana Cedis (GH₵160.00) for the Koforidua Technical University On-line Serial Numbers (OSN) E-Vouchers at Koforidua Technical University Campus – Cash Office or at any Republic Bank, Agricultural Development Bank (ADB), Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB), Universal Merchant Bank, Prudential Bank, Fidelity Bank branches throughout the country.
- Foreign Applicants can purchase On-line Serial Numbers (OSN) E-Vouchers online by visiting www.ktu.edu.gh/applyonline using any VISA Card enabled for online purchase at the cost ($50.00).
- Applicants can also purchase admission voucher with MTN Short Code by dialling *700*88# and follow the procedure below:
- Enter Name or Alias of Institution (eg. Koforidua Technical University or KTU)
- Select the specific voucher to purchase. (The name and the amount are displayed)
- Enter MoMo PIN to Authorize payment
- The voucher will be sent via SMS
