Successafrica.info has gathered that the Opposition party, NDC has settled on Hon. Eric Opoku as the running mate of its presidential aspirant, John Dramani Mahama.
John Mahama who was elected to lead the NDC has been criticised by Ghanaians, largely NPP members for failing to select a candidate.
Information credited to Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen indicate that Former President Mahama, barring any last minute hitches will settle on Hon Eric Opoku.
Kwabena Dufour and Prof Kwesi Botchway are said to be the people who were also gunning of the post.
ABOUT ERIC OPOKU
Eric Opoku is a Ghanaian politician and member of the Seventh Parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana representing the Asunafo South Constituency in the Brong-Ahafo Region on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress.
Eric Opoku was born on 5 June, 1970 and hails from a town called Sankore in his region. He had his Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Science from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in year 2004.
Prior to his appointment into parliament, He worked as a teacher at SDA Primary School, Sankore. He is a christian and married with three children.
He was elected into parliament on 7 January, 2013 after claiming victory at the 2012 Ghanaian General Elections to represent his people and served until 6 January, 2017. He was then reelected on 7 January, 2017 after the 2016 Ghanaian General Elections where he obtained 52.97% of the valid votes cast.
