The Students’ Parliament House of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology has placed 3rd in the Commonwealth Day Debate Competition organized by the Westminster Foundation For Democracy in partnership with the Parliament of Ghana.
The Student Parliament house was represented by Master Frank Bannerman, Master Terkpertey Andrews Terku, Miss Abena Achiaa Otuo and Master Michael Yeboah.
The event which was held on Monday, March 9, 2020 at the National theatre of Ghana saw six universities battling for the ultimate prize and bragging right.
The team from the KNUST Students’ Parliament were in the final stage of the competition with teams from the University of Ghana, University of Cape Coast, Central University, Presbyterian University, Abetifi and Presbyterian University, Agogo.
In all, 20 schools participated in this year’s edition of the competition, battling it out from the Zonal, Quarter and Semi Final Stages of the competition through to the finals.
KNUST’s team has been consistent in showing outstanding performance from the early stages of the competition through to the finals but were marginally surpassed by team from Central University and University of Ghana who took the 1st and 1st Runner Up position respectively.
It must be acknowledged that the team from the past three years has been consistent in winning a trophy, winning the the 2rd Runner Up in 2018, 1st Runner Up in 2019 and 2nd Runner in 2020.
