Cape Coast Technical University Releases 2022/2023 Admission Forms. Applicants are invited for application for the various DEGREE, TOP-UP HND, RPFOESIONAL DIPLOMA & DIPLOMA, CERTIFICATE programmes available for the 2022/2023 academic year.

Cape Coast Technical University is inviting applications from qualified candidates for admission into the following programmes of study:

Admission Requirements

Below are the Cape Coast Technical University admission requirements;

BTECH , HND and Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality Management

Entry Requirements For Admission Of Students Into Hnd In Tourism

(a) Non SSS Graduates

Five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes including English Language and Mathematics. A pass in French/Geography will be an advantage.

OR

Four (4) SSCE/WASSCE passes including English Language and Mathematics

Ghana Commercial Examination Stage II (RSA II) with passes in five (5) subjects including English and Mathematics.

And Any Of The Following:

  1. Two (2) passes at GCE ‘A’ Level. A pass in French/Geography will be an advantage. OR
  2. Ghana Commercial Examinations Stage III (RSA Stage III), passes in two (2) subjects OR
  3. Diploma in Business Studies OR
  4. Institutional Management or City and Guilds Parts I & II (812/1, 812/2)
  5. Part II Technician’s Certificate
  6. Ordinary Technician Diploma Certificate 98

(b) Teacher Applicants

Four-year Certificate ‘A OR

Three-year Post-Secondary Teacher’s Certificate AND

Five (5) GCE ‘O’ Level credits including English Language and Mathematics OR

Five (5) SSCE/WASSCE passes including English Language and Mathematics AND

A minimum of three (3) years teaching experience

(c) Mature Applicants

Must be at least 25 years old

Three (3) GCE ‘O’ Level credits including English Language and Mathematics OR

Three (3) SSCE/WASSCE passes including English Language and Mathematics AND

Must have the requisite work experience of at least two (2) years

Should pass a written examination and an interview

Photocopies of birth certificate and evidence of industrial experience should be attached

(d) Applicants from the Tourism Industry

Five (5) GCE ‘O’ Level credits including English Language and Mathematics AND ANY OF THE FOLLOWING

Four (4) SSCE/WASSCE passes including English Language and Mathematics OR

Any two (2) passes at GCE ‘A’ Level. OR

Institutional Management Certificate of standard (HOTCAT Intermediate A.I.T.T.A.)

Diploma in Business Studies (DBS) Certificate

Any of the above should be supported with a proven testimonial or any attestation of at least a three-year work experience with a reputable Tourism Industry.

Entry / Admission Requirements Of Students Into Diploma In Tourism And Hospitality Management Programme

WASSCE/SSCE

Candidates must have four (4) passes in SSCE (A ? E)/ WASSCE (A1 ? E8) comprising English Language and Core Mathematics, and two (2) Electives. Background in basic Geography is an advantage.

OR

RSA III/ ABEC/ GBCE

OR

Mature Applicants

Must be at least 25 years old and should provide a Birth Certificate or any legitimate documentary proof of date of birth.

Must have the requisite work experience of at least one (1) year

Pass a written examination and interview.

Academic Progression

Graduates of the Diploma would be admitted into the second year of the HND in Tourism Management or the B. Tech in Tourism and Hospitality Management of the Technical Universities on application.

Entry / Admission Requirements Of Students Into The 18 Months B. Tech In Tourism And Hospitality Management Programme

The entry requirements for the 18 months programme are the following:

HND Tourism, HND Hospitality or Tourism Management graduates, HND Hotel Catering and Institutional Management (HCIM) graduates, or other graduates of similar programmes run by other institutions with a minimum of 2nd Class Lower.

Demonstrate at least two years’ post qualification work experience

Foreign students with similar qualifications can also apply for admission for this top up degree programme.

BTECH and HND in Secretaryship and Management Studies and Professional Diploma and Diploma in Business Administration

Entry Requirements

Minimum Qualifications for Admission

Candidates for admission into the programme must fall under one of the following categories:

  1. Higher National Diploma Holders

Graduate of Higher National Diploma (HND) in Secretaryship and Management Studies with a minimum of Second (2nd) Class Lower Division. HND in Secretaryship and Management Studies with a pass shall be admitted after passing a qualifying entrance examination and an interview.

  1. Private Secretary Certificate Holders

An applicant with Private Secretaryship Certificate who has one (1) year work experience in Secretarial field shall be admitted after passing a qualifying examination.

  1. Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators Level One (1) Holders

Applicants with level one (1) qualification from The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA) qualifying examinations shall be admitted after passing an entrance examination and an interview.

  1. HND Graduates from other Related Fields of Discipline

Other HND graduates from other related fields of discipline with a minimum of Second (2nd) Class Lower Division and at least two (2) years’ work experience in Secretaryship/ management-related fields will be admitted based on interview performance.

  1. Other diploma certificates holders

Applicants with a six-semester diploma certificate in related fields (e.g. secretarial practice or management studies) shall be admitted after passing an entrance examination and an interview.

HND Secretaryship And Management Studies Entry Requirements For Admission Of Students:

SSSCE Holders

  1. Six (6) Passes (A –D) in all subject, including English and Mathematics; and
  2. At least three (3) of the passes must be relevant to the area of specialisation.

The elective passes should be in any of the following programmes:

General Arts/Business/Science/Vocational/Agriculture.

WASSCE Holders

  1. Six (6) Passes (A1 – D7) in the core subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.
  2. Must possess a minimum of C6 in any three (3) Elective subject in relevant area of specialization.
  3. Holders of Diploma in Business Administration Certification shall be placed at Level 200

Mature Applicants:

  1. Must be 25years old and should provide a Birth Certificate or any legitimate documentary proof of date of birth.
  2. Must have a minimum of two (2) year work experience and
  3. Pass a written entrance Examination and an interview
  4. Applicants with stenography certificate may also apply (Such applicants will be required to pass a special English Paper)

Professional Diploma In Business Administration Ctvet Run One (1)-Year Professional Diploma Programme

Entry Requirements

Candidates must have at least a Second Class Lower in either:

  1. Diploma in Business Administration offered by the institution or other institutions
  2. Diploma in Business Administration from a GTEC accredited University.

Diploma In Business Administration

Entry Requirements

Candidate must have four (4) passes in SSSCE/WASSCE/GBCE including English Language and Core Mathematics.

  1. SSSCE aggregate 24 or better with passes English Language and Mathematics.
  2. WASSCE aggregate 36 or better with passes in English Language and Mathematics.
  3. General Business Certificate Examination (formerly RSA II) with passes in English Language and Mathematics.

BTECH and HND in Statistics

  1. B.TECH Statistics(Top-Up)

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for the Bachelor of Technology degree in Statistics, candidates must hold at least a good HND certificate in Statistics (Second Class Division or better) from a recognized institution with a one year relevant post qualification field experience.

Entry Requirements for Admission of Students into HND Statistics

  1. SSSCE Graduates

Category I: Candidates with Elective Mathematics

  1. Passes in three Core Subjects (A to D): English, Mathematics and Integrated Science or Social Studies.
  2. Credit pass (A to D) in Elective Mathematics and any other two subjects.

Category II: Candidates without Elective Mathematics

  1. Passes (A to D) in English, and Integrated Science, and a minimum of C in Core Mathematics
  2. Passes (A to D) in three subjects, two of which are numerates: Accounting, Cost Accounting, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Engineering Science, Applied Electricals and Electronics, etc.

B.WASSCE Graduate

Category I: Candidates with Elective Mathematics

  • Passes (A1 to D7) in three Core Subjects: English, Mathematics and Integrated Science or Social Studies.
  • Credit Passes in Elective Mathematics and any other two subjects.

Category II: Candidates without Elective Mathematics

Passes (A1 to D7) in English, Integrated Science, and at least C6 in Core Mathematics

  1. Credit passes in three subjects, two of which are numerates: Accounting, Cost Accounting, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Engineering Science, Applied Electricals and Electronics, etc.
  2. Teacher Applicant

Four-year Certificate ‘A’ OR

Three-year Post-Secondary Teacher’s Certificate AND

Five (5) GCE ‘O’ Level credits including English Language,

Mathematics and two (2) science subjects. OR

  1. Mature Applicants
  • Must be at least 25 years old.
  • Must have completed GCE ‘O’ Level and/or A’ Level. or
  • Must have completed Senior High School
  • Must have at least two (2) years relevant working experience.
  • Should pass a written examination and an interview. The examination shall be of two papers being English Language and Special paper (Mathematics and Introductory Statistics).

Photocopies of birth certificate and evidence of Industrial experience should be attached.

BTECH , HND and Diploma in Procurement and Supply Chain Management

Bachelor Of Technology (B. Tech) In Procurement And Supply Chain Management – Twenty-Four (24) Months Top-Up

Entry Requirements

  1. HND graduates in Purchasing and Supply with a minimum of Second (2nd) Class Lower Division.

OR

  1. HND graduates from other fields or disciplines with a qualification not lower than Second (2nd) Class Lower Division

OR

  1. Applicants of Professional programmes equivalent to HND Purchasing and Supply (e.g. CIPS Level 5)

OR

  1. Professional Diploma in Procurement and Materials Management

HND Purchasing And Supply

Entry Requirements

(a) ‘A’ Level, R.S.A. and DBS Holders:

(i) Five (5) GCE ‘O’ Level credits including English Language and Mathematics.

OR

(ii) Four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE passes including English Language and Mathematics.

(f) Diploma in Procurement and Materials Management

  1. Diploma in Procurement and Materials Management graduates with a minimum of

Second (2nd) Class Lower Division will be admitted into HND 2nd year.

  1. Diploma in Procurement and Materials Management graduates with a Pass will be

admitted into the first year of HND.

(g) Mature Applicants:

  1. Must be 25 years old and should provide a Birth Certificate or any legitimate

documentary proof of date of birth;

  1. Must have a minimum of two (2) years working experience; and

iii. Pass a written examination and an interview.

  1. Diploma In Procurement And Materials Management (DPM)

Entry Requirements

  1. A) SSSCE/WASSCE

Three passes not below D7 (WASSCE) or D (SSSCE) in core subjects including English and Core Mathematics PLUS two credit passes in elective subjects.

  1. B) O LEVEL/GBCE AND ABCE APPLICANTS

Four passes in O LEVEL/GBCE including English and Mathematics

  1. C) Candidates possessing a certificate in procurement and supply or related programme from a recognised institution.

BTech In Renewable Energy

Bachelor Of Technology In Renewable Energy

Admission Requirements

The programme intends to target applicants with the following qualifications:

  • SSSCE/WASSCE Applicants

SSSCE holders:

Credit Passes (A-D) in Six (6) subjects comprising three core subjects, including English Language, Integrated Science and Mathematics, plus three (3) relevant elective subjects. Relevant elective subjects including Elective Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Building Construction, Technical Drawing, Engineering Science, Economics and Geography.

WASSCE Holders:

Credit Passes (A1-C6) in Six (6) subjects comprising three core subjects, including English Language, Integrated Science and Mathematics, plus three (3) relevant elective subjects. Relevant elective subjects including Elective Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Building Construction, Technical Drawing, Engineering Science, Economics and Geography.

  • GCE ‘A’ Level Applicants

Credit passes in Five (5) O’ Level subjects including English Language, Mathematics, plus Passes in Three (3) subjects (at least, one of the passes should be Grade D or better) at A’ Level.

  • Technical / Vocational Certificate Applicants
  1. Construction Technician Certificate Part I & II (CTC I & II) with passes in all subjects.
  2. Ordinary Technician Diploma (OTD) Certificate in Renewable Energy, Electricals, Mechanical, Building and Civil Engineering with Pass in all subjects.
  3. Credit Passes in Intermediate or equivalent Certificate in Renewable Energy, Electricals, Mechanical, Building and Civil Engineering courses plus SSSCE (A-D) or WASSCE (A1-C6) or GCE Ordinary level (Credit) or CTVET (Credit) Certificates in three (3) core subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.
  4. CTVET Diploma Certificate in Renewable Energy, Electricals, Mechanical, Building and Civil Engineering courses with a minimum of 2nd Class Lower Division shall be admitted into the 2rd Year of the programme. Applicants with a “Pass” shall be admitted into the 1st Year of the programme.
  • Professional And Other Entry Qualifications

All professional certificates and any other qualifications beyond the ones specified above must be referred to the National Accreditation Board for the establishment of their equivalences, to determine their eligibility for admission to tertiary education institutions-universities, university, colleges, polytechnics, etc.

  • Mature Applicants 
  1. Must be at least 25 years old and should provide a birth certificate or any legitimate documentary proof of date of birth.
  2. Pass a written examination and an interview.
  • Teacher Applicants
  1. Three (3) year certificate ‘A’

OR

  1. Five (5) GCE ‘O’ level credits including English Language, Mathematics and two (2) Science Subjects or Five (5) SSCE/WASSCE passes including English language, Mathematics and two (2) elective science subjects.

AND

  1. A minimum of three (3) years teaching experience.
  2. Foreign Qualification

All foreign qualifications should be referred to Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) for determination of equivalences and eligibility for admission to tertiary institutions in Ghana (National Accreditation Board) Act, 2007 {Act 744 (2(2b)}).

  1. Higher National Diploma (HND) Qualifications

For HND holders willing to be admitted to undergraduate programmes, the applicant must have graduated with a good HND certificate (i.e. at least 2nd Class Lower Division). Also, the applicant must have acquired a 2-year post HND qualification working experience Institutions under mentorship should follow their Mentor Institution Practice concerning entry levels for HND applicants.

Other Diploma qualification from elsewhere assessed to be equivalent to HND may be similarly considered.

2.Professional and Other Entry Qualifications

All professional certificates and any other qualifications beyond the ones specified above must be referred to the National Accreditation Board for the establishment of their equivalences, to determine their eligibility for admission to tertiary education institutions-universities, colleges, polytechnics, etc.

SSSCE/WASSCE Applicants

  • SSSCE Holders: 
  1. Six (6) passes or better (A-D) in three (3) core subjects including English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science/Social Studies
  2.  At least three (3) of the passes must be relevant to the area of specialization. Relevant elective subjects including clothing and Textiles, Textiles, Visual Communication, General Knowledge in Art, Graphic Design, Technical Drawing, Management in Living, French, Economics, Geography, Accounting, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and Elective Mathematics.
  • WASSCE Holders:
  1. Six passes (A1-C6) in all subjects, including English Language and Mathematics; and
  2. Must possess a minimum of C6 in any three (3) of the passes relevant to the area of specialization. Clothing and Textiles, General Knowledge in Arts, Textiles, Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Technical Drawing, Management in Living, French, Economics, Geography, Accounting, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Elective Mathematics.
  • CERTIFICATE II APPLICANTS
  1. Passes in six (6) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects (English, Mathematics and Integrated Science / Social Studies) plus three (3) passes in relevant elective subjects.
  • GCE ‘A’ LEVEL APPLICANTS

Five (5) GCE ‘O’ LEVEL credits including English Language, Mathematics, Clothing and Textiles, Graphics, Textiles and Two (2) credit passes in relevant Advanced Level subjects.

  • Technical/Vocational Certificate Applicants
  1. Advanced certificate in Fashion, plus SSSCE/WASSCE with passes in three (3) core subjects in English Language, Mathematics, Science /Social Studies.
  2. Intermediate Certificate in Fashion plus five (5) SSSCE/WASSCE/GCE Ordinary Certificate passes including English Language and Mathematics /Science / Social Studies subjects.
  3. CTVET Certificate (passes in CTVET examination for both core and elective /departmental courses)
  • Mature Applicants
  1. Must be at least 25 years old and should provide a birth certificate or any legitimate documentary proof of date of birth.
  2. Must have a minimum of two (2) years’ work experience and
  3. Pass a written examination and an interview.
  • Teacher Applicants
  1. Three (3)-year certificate ‘A’

OR

  1. Five (5) GCE ‘O’ level credits including English Language, mathematics and two (2) Science Subjects or Five (5) SSCE/WASSCE passes including English Language, Mathematics and two (2) electives science subjects.

AND

A minimum of three (3) years teaching experience

  • International Students

International students with WASSCE certificate or it equivalent.

  • Diploma Holders

Applicants with diploma certificate in Fashion and Textiles with first class or second-class upper division shall be placed in level Two Hundred (200) while those with second class lower division will be admitted into level Hundred (100).

Diploma In Fashion Design

Entry Requirements

The selection of students for the course is within the discretion of the head of the institution and however recommended that applicants must satisfy one of the following:

  1. A pass or better in the intermediate dressmaking/fashion certificate examination.
  2. Passes in two cores and two electives West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) or its equivalent.
  3. A pass in Certificate course of National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI) or its equivalence in addition to pass in Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) with one year working experience.
  4. A recognized equivalence in allied subjects and qualifications as stated in (a), (b), and (c).
  5. A pass in Certificate of Fashion Design and Technology run by the department.

BTECH , HND and Diploma in Marketing Studies

Bachelor Of Technology (B-Tech) In Marketing Studies – Eighteen (18) Months

  1. HND graduates in Marketing and studies transferring from similar/related programmes run at other accredited institutions with a minimum of SECOND (2RD) Class Lower Division plus at least one (1) year work experience.
  2. Applicants with Professional Diploma from CIM (UK/Ghana.)
  3. HND graduates with passes lower than the minimum 2nd Class Lower Division requirement indicated above but have worked in relevant fields for at least one (1) year may apply. Such applicants will be admitted based on interview performance
  4. HND graduates from other fields or disciplines with a qualification not lower than the minimum of Second (2rd) Class Lower Division requirement with at least one (1) year work experience in Marketing Studies or related fields.

HND Marketing Studies

Entry Requirements

  1. ‘A’ Level, R.SA and DBS Holders
  2. Credits Passes in five (5) GCE ‘O’ Level English Language and Mathematics
  3. Credit Passes in four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE including English Language and Mathematics
  4. Ghana Commercial Examination Stage II (RAS II) passes in five (5) subjects including English and Mathematics.

And Either Of The Following:

  1. Two (2) passes at GCE ‘A’ Level
  2. Ghana Commercial Examination Stage III (RAS Stage III) passes in three subjects.
  3. Diploma in Business Studies (DBS) Certificate

SSSCE Holders:

i Six passes (A1 – D7) in all subjects, including English Language, Mathematics; and Integrated Science.

  1. At least three (3) of the passes must be relevant to the area of specialization.

iii. Holders of General Business Certificates (New Structure including Social Studies and Integrated Science)

the elective passes should be in any of the following programmes General Arts/ Business/ Science Vocational and Agriculture.

(c) Holders of Diploma in Banking Technology & Accounting (DBTA) Certificate – level 200.

(d) Holders of Diploma in Computerized (DCA) Certificate for level 200

(e) Holders of Diploma in Business Administration Certificate / Diploma in Electronic Marketing / Diploma in Public Relations / Diploma in Procurement Management / DBS Certificate – level 200.

(f) Any other equivalent relevant qualification.

(g) Teacher Applicants:

Four-year Certificate ‘A’

Or

Three-year Post –Secondary Teacher’s Certificate and Credits in Five (5) GCE ‘O’ Level including English and Mathematics. or Five (5) SSSCE/WASSCE credit passes including English Language and Mathematics. And at least a minimum of three (3) years teaching experience.

Diploma In Electronic Marketing (DEM)

Entry Requiremens

Any four (4) passes including English Language at the SSSCE/WASSCE or five (5) passes at the GCE ‘O’ Level.

Diploma In Public Relations (DPR)

Admission Requirements

  1. SSSCE/WASSCE APPLICANTS

Three Passes not below D7 (WASSCE) or D (SSSCE) in core subjects including English and Core Mathematics PLUS two credit passes in relevant elective subjects.

  1. O’ LEVEL/GBCE AND A’ LEVEL/ABCE APPLICANTS

Five passes in O’ Level / GBCE including English Language and Mathematics

MATURE APPLICANTS

  1. Must be 25 years and above
  2. Must provide documentary evidence of relevant work experience

iii. Mustpass a departmental examination and interview

The programme intends to target applicants with the following qualifications

  1. SSSCE/WASSCE: Credit passes in English, Core Mathematic, Core Science/Social Studies and three (3) relevant elective subjects such as Food and Nutrition, Management in Living, General Knowledge in Arts, French, Economics, Geography, Accounting, Business Management, Costing, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Elective Mathematics.
  2. GCE: Passes in Two (2) subjects at GCE ‘A ‘Level in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Economics and Geography, Biology/Agricultural Science.
  3. Post-Secondary Certificate ‘A’ holders

  5. Professionals with 812/2 certificate holders

Entry Requirements

Higher National Diploma holders with at least second class upper and lower. However, those with pass would be admitted after going through an interview.

Higher National Diploma (Hnd) In Hotel, Catering And Institutional Management

Entry Requirements

The programme intends to target applicants with the following qualifications:

SSSCE/ Applicants

SSSCE/WASSCE candidates must possess Credit Passes (A-D) in three (3) Core subjects; English Language, Core Mathematics and Integrated Science/Social Studies and three (3) elective subjects from the following; Science, General Arts, Home Economics, Business, Agriculture and Visual Art.

WASSCE Applicants

Candidates must have (A1-C6) in three (3) Core subjects; English Language, Core Mathematics and Integrated Science/Social Studies and three (3) elective subjects from the following; Science, General Arts, Home Economics, Business, Agriculture and Visual Art.

GCE ‘A’ Level Applicants

Five (5) GCE ‘O’ level credits including English language and Core Mathematics and two (2) GCE ‘A’ level passes in relevant subjects and General paper.

Technical / Vocational Certificate Applicants

  • Holders of Cookery for the Catering Industry part two (812/2) with two years working experience.
  • Holders of C601- Hospitality and Catering Management with CTVET English, Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social studies.

Diploma Certificate Holders

CTVET Diploma Certificate in Hospitality Management or Tourism with a minimum of 2ndClass Lower Division or any other Hospitality or Home Economics related diploma certificate from an accredited institution shall be admitted into the 2ndYear of the programme.

Mature Applicants

Must be at least 25 years old and must provide a birth certificate or any legitimate documentary proof of date of birth.

Must pass a written examination and an interview

Teacher Applicants

Three (3) year certificate ‘A’

OR

Five (5) GCE ‘O’ level credits including English Language, Core Mathematics and two (2) Science Subjects or Five (5) SSCE/WASSCE passes including English language, Mathematics and two (2) elective science subjects.

International Students

International students with SSSCE/WASSCE certificate or its equivalent are eligible for admission.

Foreign Qualifications

Foreign qualifications shall be referred to the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) for determination of equivalences and eligibility for admission.

Four (4) passes in WASSCE results – Two (2) passes in core subjects (English Language, Mathematics and General Science/Integrated Science or Agric and Environmental Studies and Social Studies) and passes in two (2) elective subjects.

Entry Requirements

The programme intends to target applicants with the following qualifications:

  1. SSSCE/WASSCE: Credit passes in English, Core Mathematic, Integrated Science and three (3) relevant elective subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Food and Nutrition , Agriculture Science and other related Agricultural disciplines.
  2. GCE: Passes in Two (2) subjects at GCE ‘A ‘Level in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Agricultural Science.
  3. Candidates Diploma in Food Science, Food and Postharvest Technology and Food Technology will be admitted at Level 200
  4. Mature Admission: Candidates should have secondary education, NVTI and must be at least 25 years old with at least Two (2) year relevant work experience. In addition, applicants must pass an organised entrance examination and interview by the department.

Diploma In Food And Postharvest Technology

Entry Requirements

Four (4) passes in WASSCE including English Language and Core Mathematics

The programme intends to target applicants with the following qualifications:

  1. SSSCE/WASSCE: Four (4) passes that is two (2) core subjects and two (2) electives subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Food and Nutrition, Agriculture Science and other related Agricultural disciplines.
  2. GCE: Passes in Two (2) subjects at GCE ‘A ‘Level in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Agricultural Science.
  3. Mature Admission: Candidates should have secondary education, NVTI and must be at least 25 years old with at least Two (2) year relevant work experience. In addition, applicants must pass an organised entrance examination and interview by the department.

BTECH and HND Civil Engineering

Bachelor Of Technology (Btech) Civil Engineering (4-Year)

SSSCE/WASSCE Applicants

SSSCE Holders:

Credit Passes (A-D) in Six (6) subjects comprising three core subjects, including English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science, plus three (3) relevant elective subjects including either Elective Mathematics or Physics. Other relevant elective subjects are Chemistry, Biology, Building Construction, Woodwork, Plumbing, Carpentry, Technical Drawing, Engineering Science, Economics and Geography.

WASSCE Holders:

Credit Passes (A1-C6) in Six (6) subjects comprising three core subjects, including English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science, plus three (3) relevant elective subjects including either Elective Mathematics or Physics. Other relevant elective subjects include Chemistry, Biology, Building Construction, Woodwork, Plumbing, Carpentry, Technical Drawing, Engineering Science, Economics and Geography.

GCE ‘A’ Level Applicants

Five (5) credits (at least Grade 6) at O’ Level including English Language Mathematics, and two (2) of the following: Additional Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Technical Drawing and Building Construction, plus, Two (2) A’ Level passes in Mathematics and either Physics or Chemistry.

Technical Certificate Applicants

  1. Certificate in Construction-related Course from Technical Institutes with Credit passes in all subjects, plus SSSCE (A-D) or WASSCE (A1-C6) or GCE Ordinary level (Credits) or CTVET (Credits) Certificates in three (3) core subjects, including English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science.
  2. Construction Technician Certificate Part I & II (CTC I & II) with Credit passes in all subjects, plus Credit passes in three (3) core subjects including English language, Mathematics, and Integrated Science from SSSCE (A-D) or WASSCE (A1-C6) or GCE Ordinary level (Credits) or CTVET (Credits).
  3. Construction Technician Certificate Part I, II & III (CTC I, II & III) with Credit passes in all subjects, plus at least three (3) years relevant experience may be admitted to Level 300 upon successful completion of a 6-month bridging course.

 Mature Applicants

  1. Must be at least 25 years old and should provide a birth certificate or any legitimate documentary proof of date of birth.
  2. Must show evidence of completion of Second Cycle education.
  3. Must have at least three (3) years relevant work experience and show proof with a recommendation letter from the employer
  4. Must pass a written examination and an interview.

Diploma Applicants

  1. HND Certificate in Civil Engineering with a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division) may be admitted to Level 300 of the programme. HND applicants with a “Pass” must pass a selection interview.
  2. HND in Building Technology, Construction Technology or Construction-related programme may be admitted to Level 300 upon successful completion of a 3-month bridging course.
  3. 2-year Diploma Certificate in Civil Engineering with a minimum of 2nd Class (Lower Division) from any Accredited Institution may be admitted to Level 200 of the programme. However, applicants with deficiency in Level 100 courses will be required to register and successfully complete those courses. Applicants with a “Pass” may be admitted to Level 100 of the programme.

Teacher Applicants

Five (5) GCE ‘O’ level credits including English Language, Mathematics and two (2) Science Subjects or Five (5) SSSCE/WASSCE passes including English language, Mathematics and two (2) elective science subjects.

International Students

International students with SSSCE/WASSCE certificate or its equivalent in relevant areas as defined under Sections 8.1.1, 8.1.2, 8.1.3 and 8.1.5 are eligible for admission.

Professional And Other Entry Qualifications

All professional certificates and any other qualifications beyond the ones specified above will be referred to the Ghana Tertiary Education Commision for the establishment of their equivalences, to determine their eligibility for admission into the programme.

Foreign Qualifications

Foreign qualifications shall be referred to the Ghana Tertiary Education Commision (GTEC) for determination of equivalences and eligibility for admission into the programme.

Bachelor Of Technology (Btech) Civil Engineering (Top-Up)

Applicants should possess any of the following qualifications:

  1. HND in Civil Engineering with a minimum of Second Class (Lower division). HND in Civil Engineering with “Pass” Division must pass a selection interview.
  2. HND in Building Technology, Construction Technology or Construction-related programme may be admitted upon successful completion of a 3-month bridging course.
  3. Construction Technician Certificate Part I, II & III (CTC I, II & III) with Credit passes in all subjects, plus at least three (3) years relevant experience may be admitted upon successful completion of a 6-month bridging course.

Higher National Diploma (HND)

  1. Non-SSSCE/WASSCE Graduates.

Applicants may qualify with any of the following groupings

  1. General Course in Construction (GCC), Construction Technician Certificate I & II (CTC I&II)Certificate II Applicants
    1. Craft certificate in Blocklaying and Concreting / Carpentry and Joinery / Plumbing plus passes in English Language Mathematics and Science in Access Course organized by NAPBTEX.
    2. Craft certificate in Blocklaying and Concreting / Carpentry and Joinery / Plumbing. Must have in addition a minimum of three SSSCE/WASSCE passes in core Mathematics, English and Integrated Science.
    3. Construction Technician Part II Certificate (New Scheme). Candidates must have in addition a minimum of for SSSCE/WASSCE passes including Core English, Mathematics and Physics or four GCE ‘O’ Level passes including English mathematics and Physics.
    4. Final Construction Technician Certificate (CTC I/CTC II). Candidates must have, in addition, GCE ‘O’ level passes in English, and Additional Mathematics or SSSCE/WASSCE passes in Core English and Elective Mathematics or GCC four(4) credits.
    5. OTD Certificate in Building/Civil Engineering
    6. CTC I and CTC II with passes in all subjects

Passes in six subjects comprising three core subjects (English, mathematics and Integrated Science) plus three passes in relevant elective subjects

  1. Two (2) GCE ‘A’ Level passes in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or Engineering Drawing. If a pass in ‘A’ Level Chemistry is not obtained, credit in GCE ‘O’ Level Chemistry will be a prerequisite. Applicants with two ‘A’ Level passes with a minimum of grade ‘C’ in Mathematics and Physics may be considered.

AND

Five (5) credits at GCE ‘O’ Level including English Language, Mathematics and a Science subject.

(b) SSSCE Applicants:

Six passes (A-D) in all core subjects including English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science and at passes (A-C) in at least three relevant elective subjects like Elective Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Building Construction, Technical Drawing, Woodwork, Engineering Science, Agricultural Science/Biology, Economics, Geography and other relevant subjects.

  1. WASSCE Applicants

Three passes (A1-D7) in three core subjects including English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science and a minimum of (C6) in any three relevant Elective Subjects like Elective Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Building Construction, Technical Drawing, Woodwork, Engineering Science, Agricultural Science / Biology, Economics, Geography and other relevant subjects.

1.Teacher Applicants

Four-year certificate A

OR

Three-year Post-Secondary Teachers Certificate

  1. Mature Applicants:

Must be at least twenty-five years old with a minimum of two (2) years of work experience. Must pass a written examination and an interview.

Note: Applicants with failures in SSSCE/WASSCE elective subjects can substitute them with passes in Technician Part I and II courses and vice versa.
